ECONOMIST: NORQUIST WRIGGLE MAY HAVE SOURED MANY TO ATR
JUN 22 This post on the Economist takes a look at the "nonsense on a stick" that our legislature passed to "balance" the budget without sending higher ed to the bankruptcy court for good. The take-away is that Grover Norquist may have won a battle, but lost the war, as his weaselly ways were exposed.

JUN 22 This is a must-read. It's an essay by Baton Rouge native Tim Parrish, a ruthless self-examination from a man who says he was "programmed" to be racist by his home town and by people who were kind, hard-working, "salt of the earth" human beings. So how do we fix that? Probably by having conversations with each other about words like these.

JUN 22 The Picayune reports here on the studies and discussions presented at an education alliance's conference in NOLA. The researchers and educators there were discussing how NOLA schools look 10 years after Katrina. There have been improvements - but at what cost? And are they enough? Are they sustainable? ADVOCATE: JINDAL CAN GET THERE FROM HERE
JUN 22 This post from The Advocate basically argues that Bobby Jindal can win the GOP nomination by comparing him to Jimmy Carter. The comparison is convoluted and it's arguably not even valid, given that Carter was running for President following the resignation of his opposition party's president and had actually been focused on running Georgia while he was governor.

JUN 22 This post on the Federalist is a simultaneously vicious, shrill and lame attack on blogger Lamar White's recent article on Bobby Jindal, Timmy Teepell and homeschoolers. The - er - lady who wrote it admits, midway in, that she works for Bobby's PAC. Huh? Are we being punked? Is Ashton Kutcher hiding behind a van somewhere with a camcorder? In any event, if this is the kind of "mind" that PAC has working for it, nobody better go calling it a think tank.
Monday's Blogs from the Bog!
Grover's weaselly ways during the last session may have cost him; a must-read essay on racism; and a nasty, convoluted attack on Lamar, today in La La Land.
