Funeral services have been announced for the two victims of Thursday night’s shooting at the Grand Theatre, Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, which will both takeplace on Monday, July 27.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mayci Breaux will take place during a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m., on Monday at the Church of the Assumption, locatedat 211 Iberia St., in Franklin. Burial will follow at the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will be conducting the services.

Funeral arrangements for Jillian Johnson will take place on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers located at 1011 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette. Reverend John Wamsleywill be presiding over the service.

On Saturday, Gov. Bobby Jindal issued an executive order to preserve the peace at the funerals taking place in Acadiana after public expressed concerns that certain unwelcome religious groups might picket them. Jindal also issued an executive order to have flags fly at half-staff in honor of the victims of the Grand Theatre Shooting.

On Thursday, July 23, a gunman named John Russell Houser entered the Grand Theateron Johnston Street in Lafayette and opened fire on the audience during a screening of the film “Trainwreck,” before turning the gun on himself resulting in nine wounded and two deceased. Mayci Breaux was pronounced dead at the scene while Jillian Johnson was rushed to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries and died.
