LGH announces sale of 'Lafayette Strong' T-shirts

All proceeds are being donated to Lafayette Central Park in Jillian Johnson's name for development of a playground at the Horse Farm property.

Lafayette General Health will begin selling a “Lafayette Strong” T-shirt for $20. All proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be donated to the non-profit Lafayette Central Park to aid in the construction of playgrounds in the park at the Horse Farm. The donation is being made at the request of the family of Jillian Johnson, who was killed last week in the tragic theater shooting.

The T-shirts will be available to the public this Friday, July 31, at Louisiana Hot Stuff, located at 4409 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy # 200. Pre-orders will be accepted online at LouisianaHotStuff.com or by calling (337) 981-3132. However, the T-shirts will not be distributed at any of LGH’s hospitals.

“We are all still deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy,” stated LGH President David L. Callecod in a release. “As a community-owned non-profit health system, we feel a tremendous sense of obligation to assist in Acadiana’s recovery. There is no truer innocence than children at a playground, and Lafayette Central Park is going to be a shining example of our community’s resilience.”

LGH also announced its intention to donate a portion of the money it raises during the health system’s 2015 United Way campaign in October to LSU – Eunice. The money going to LSU-E will provide a radiologic technology scholarship in the name of Mayci Breaux, who also died in the theater shooting.
