The final hospitalized victim from the July 23 Grand Theater shooting was released from Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center Friday afternoon.

Julia “Morgan” Egedahl, 33, arrived in the Lourdes emergency room on the night of the shooting with life threatening injuries. Egedahl was immediately brought to surgery where doctors operated on six gunshot wounds that resulted in serious fractures, lower abdominal injuries, and damage to her lung.

“Ten years ago, my friend of 24 years, Jillian Johnson, encouraged me to come make this special place called Lafayette my home,” says Egedahl in a prepared release announcing her discharge. “While this has been an unimaginable event in my life, I remain amazed by the people of this community. The prayers, the love, the help for my family have been such a touching comfort to us in our time of need and for that we are eternally grateful.”

After 23 days, two surgeries, hours of rehab and lots of love and support, Egedahl is strong enough to be discharged to recover further at home among her family and friends.
