AUG 17 See, here's the problem with being overly-eager to pander to one group, with trying so hard to get someone's approval that you will, literally, say anything. Last week, Bobby Jindal stepped up to defend the pinheads who think we should still be worshiping at the altar of slavery and said he'd use our Heritage Act to fight any attempts to take down the Confederate monuments in NOLA. As the Advocate reports here, there ain't no Heritage Act. D'oh!

AUG 17 Red Shtick takes a look at the history of the family for whom the "new" bridge over the Mississippi River is named. It's kind of a convoluted theory here, but it certainly would explain why crossing that thing is such a crap shoot. Now, if the Shtick will just see what it can find out about the bridge over the Atchafalaya? Because that thing is backed up almost every single day.

COMMON CORE'S FINANCIAL FAMILY TREE
AUG 17 Ever wonder why Common Core has been met with such suspicion and criticism? It's just a set of educational standards, right? WE WOULDN'T WISH KATRINA ON ANYONE
AUG 17 Here's the Picayune's response to the monumentally stupid and insensitive column posted last week on the Chicago Tribune, in which a self-involved writer decided to use the tragedy of Katrina as some kind of lame-ass metaphor upon which to hang her weak writing. (If you missed it, she said she wishes for the same sort of thing for Chicago, so it could "reboot" as well. No, really.) Spoiler alert: the editorial board was not complimentary.

AUG 17 This is an interesting multi-media piece on Marketplace.org about the independent business scene in New Orleans, and how these mom and pops were often the first back up and running after Katrina.
Monday's Blogs from the Bog!
Bobby Jindal's so eager to pander to pro-Confederate pinheads he pledges to help them with a law that doesn't exist. Now that's funny. Also today, Common Core and more on the anniversary.
