AUG 20 Baton Rouge Business Report publisher Rolfe McCollister writes about David Vitter's "elephant in the room," in other words, his history with hookers. Vitter's not going to be able to escape his past (especially if what we hear about a more recent lady of the evening waiting in the wings is true) and even if he can - should he be allowed to? McCollister says no. Hey, that's big talk coming from a guy who has aided and abetted Bobby Jindal for the past eight years. - at least that DC Madam got paid.

AUG 20 Columnist Clancy DuBos gives us the skinny on the latest in the governor's race. Once David Vitter showed a dip in the polls, he came out swinging, DuBos says. He's swinging so hard, he's hitting guys who aren't even running, DuBos adds.

ASWELL HAS MORE ON THAT STATE POLICE MESS
AUG 20 Blogger Tom Aswell has more details on the case of the State Trooper who he says was treated differently than another state employee by ole Bobby Jindal and his administration.
-
AUG 20 Blogger Rod Dreher uses that (incredibly stupid) Chicago Tribune post about Katrina as a stepping-off point to talk about the "recovery" of the city, and the folks who went down there - fixers and healers -- and how their approaches differ. It's pretty interesting.
-
AUG 20 Blogger Bob Mann says it should be easy for all the candidates for governor to say they'll do something about those vultures known as payday lenders. He's explaining how these things work - and it's not pretty.

AUG 20 Here's the Picayune's story about Jay Ducote's loss in the Food Network Star competition. Ducote, who seemed to be a shoo-in for the entire run of the program, came in second to the charismatic (but inconsistent) Eddie Jackson.
Thursday's Blogs from the Bog!
Rolfe talks about Vitter's "elephant in the room," but at least that DC Madam got paid. What did we get for what Bobby's been doing to us? Also today, Mann, Aswell, Dreher and DuBos.
