NOLA Confederate monument removal moves forward

An anonymous donor has stepped forward to cover the $126,000 cost.

The Times-Picayune is reporting that an anonymous donor has stepped forward to cover the $126,000 cost of removing from public spaces four monuments to the Confederacy scattered around New Orleans.

The monuments to Gens. Robert E. Lee and P.G.T. Beauregard, Confederate President Jefferson Davis and the infamous Battle of Liberty Place have been a source of deep divide in the Crescent City since Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced his intention to have them removed soon after the Charleston, SC, church shootings last July.
