When Dr. Loren Scott returns to Lafayette to present his annual report on the economy, he hopes to offer insight that will help business leaders make more informed decisions as they deal with the challenges ahead. “This year’s presentation will be a bit longer than normal. I want to spend some time exploring the trends and conditions that got us where we are today before delving into what we project for 2016,” he says. “The feedback I’m getting is that people want to understand what got us here.”

The "here" he’s talking about, of course, is oil trading in the $45 range and, as professor emeritus of economics at LSU, energy prices are commodities that Scott has tracked for decades. He brings a unique perspective to the 12th annual Entrée to Business Breakfast on Oct. 15 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lafayette at 7:30 a.m., an event Dwight Andrus Insurance has sponsored since 2003. “It’s a tumultuous time for many of our clients and for us as well,” says Dwight Andrus III, the company’s president and CEO. “Business decision-makers are actively seeking as much quality information as possible as they navigate today’s challenging waters. We’ve come to depend on Dr. Scott’s insight in good times and bad. It is perhaps even more important in tough times like these.”

IberiaBank returns this year as presenting co-sponsor for this highly anticipated event. “Our clients and the overall community look forward to Dr. Scott’s presentation and economic forecast for Louisiana,” says Jerry Vascocu, Acadiana president for IberiaBank. “We are particularly interested to hear his insight on the economic path of our greater Acadiana region.”

New to the mix this year are supporting sponsors Cox Business, offering Internet solutions with competitive pricing at business-grade speeds, along with a variety of robust phone services, TV for offices, hospitality and campus environments and a variety of networking options for business; and One Acadiana, which is celebrating the successful first leg of a five-year, $15 million initiative designed to transform our nine-parish region into a nationally competitive destination for business investment and talent. Sustaining sponsors of the Entrée to Business Breakfast are Cane River Pecan Company, producers of custom-blended tins of choice Louisiana-picked pecans for corporate gifting, and Andrus Boudreaux Complete Title.
