The 'Future' begins this Wednesday

The Back to the Future Experience takes place Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 6 - 10 p.m. at Parc International in Downtown Lafayette.

The Future officially begins this Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, which is the date that Doc Brown and Marty McFly travel to in the classic film Back to the Future and to celebrate this once in a lifetime event Pepsi is throwing the biggest 80s party South Louisiana has ever seen.

In the 30 years since Back to the Future hit theatres, there are still no commercial hoverboards, flying cars, power laces, “Jaws 19,” pizza hydrators or time machines, but we do have the Internet and the greatest 80s tribute band of all time, The Molly Ringwalds, who will be performing all the totally awesome faves that the 80s has to offer.

There will also be several attractions inspired by the film, including a selfie station featuring an actual DeLorean Time Machine replica from the movie, an Enchantment Under the Sea photo booth and a massive 80s costume contest.

And just before the Back to the Future Experience takes place, the Downtown Lafayette Restaurant and Bar Association is helping spearhead a roll back happy hour from 4:29-6:29 p.m. The time being significant to the the time Marty McFly entered the future in the film.

All of the participating restaurants and bars have chosen themes to dress as for the evening and will run specials on drinks and food: some specials include roll back prices to the 80s while others are dishes related to their chosen film. The DLRBA wants to encourage people to get out downtown early and grab a bite and a drink before the doors open to Parc International.
