Arkansas State holds off Cajuns 37-27

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Fredi Knighten threw two touchdown passes, Arkansas State rushed for 306 yards and two scores, and the Red Wolves held off UL Lafayette 37-27 on Tuesday night.

Knighten found a wide open Darion Griswold in the end zone for a 20-0 lead and completed a deep ball to Chris Murray for a 46-yard touchdown to make it 34-7.

The Cajuns rallied in the second half. Elijah McGuire out-jumped a defender for a 20-yard touchdown with 11:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, but he was stopped on a 2-point conversion attempt to keep it a two-possession game at 37-27.

Michael Gordon and Johnston White each had a touchdown rushing for Arkansas State (4-3, 3-0 Sun Belt). The Red Wolves had two interceptions for an FBS-leading 15 on the season.
