Troopers endorse Edwards

“During the eight years that Mr. Edwards has served in the state legislature, he has always demonstrated concern for the troopers and has stood with us on many issues that have passed through his chamber."

The Louisiana State Troopers Association has thrown its support behind state Rep. John Bel Edwards in his runoff election against Sen. David Vitter. Friday’s nod by the troopers adds to Edwards’ endorsement by public-safety groups, following on the heels of an endorsement by the Louisiana Sheriffs Association.

“Mr. Edwards’ views on public safety and the role of Louisiana State Police closely align with the views of the Association on these issues. We just felt that it was fitting that we acknowledge our agreement on these important public safety issues, says association Executive Director David Young in a release announcement the support. “During the eight years that Mr. Edwards has served in the state legislature, he has always demonstrated concern for the troopers and has stood with us on many issues that have passed through his chamber. We are grateful for that support and believe that his policies offer the state the best public safety plan for the future.”
