BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A Lafayette man is accused of failing to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in income from his home improvement business, the Louisiana Department of Revenue said Wednesday.

Alan Bernard filed state tax returns reporting no income from A-Team Home Improvements LLC in 2012 and 2013, but subpoenaed bank records and Bernard's federal tax returns show that it brought in $144,000 in 2012 and more than $324,000 in 2013, department spokeswoman Kizzy Payton said in a news release.

"Bernard failed to pay any state corporate, sales, or income tax on those amounts," Payton wrote.

Bernard could not be reached for comment. The three most recent numbers listed for him in an online residential directory all were disconnected. An online business directory's link to the A-Team Home Improvements website was broken, and an email to its administrative address was returned as undeliverable.

Payton said in an email that she doesn't know who represents Bernard. She said his bond was set at $15,000.

Bernard was booked Tuesday in Baton Rouge on charges of tax evasion, failing to account for state tax monies and filing false public records, Payton said.
