An area that once was known for sugarcane and cattle pastures is booming with subdivisions, restaurants and stores.

Youngsville, Louisiana's fastest growing city, is working on its first-ever master plan.

An area that once was known for sugar cane and cattle pastures is booming with subdivisions, restaurants and stores. Youngsville's population of 12,000 is a 350 percent increase from 1990.

The Advertiser reports the city plans an open house Tuesday to discuss its new master plan, which maps out infrastructure expansion for the next decade.

City Mayor Ken Ritter describes it as a "10-year road map."

The plan was developed with research conducted by Executive MBA students from UL Lafayette.

Pamela Gonzales-Granger, the city engineer, says the master plan isn't in its final draft. She's hoping residents attending Tuesday's open house offer suggestions.

The plan also has to be adopted by the city council.
