A group of treasure hunters from New Iberia -- Avery Munson, Craig DeRouen, and Gary and Renée Hebert -- spent nearly 20 years searching for the New York, a steam ship that sank in 60 feet of water outside the port of Cameron, La., in 1846. They are the subject of the Independent's cover story this week, "X Marks the Spot:
