Lafayette Parish wasn’t the only one hit hard by this morning’s intense storm system. Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon is reporting multiple tornadoes; Couvillon says that shortly after 6 a.m. the Sheriff’s patrol division began receiving reports of at least seven tornadoes throughout Vermilion Parish in the areas of Abbeville, Gueydan, Intracoastal City, Kaplan, Maurice, Mouton Cove, and Nunez.
One Kaplan residence had its roof blown off, and there are several downed power lines. So far, there are no reports of injuries.
