UL celebrates Women’s History Month UL Lafayette continues its monthlong celebration with a day-long discussion of the issues facing modern women.

The Center for Louisiana Studies observes Women's History Month with LA Femme / Women of Louisiana: A Symposium this Wednesday. The free day-long symposium culminates with an evening book launch of Louisiana Women: Their Lives and Times, Volume Two, co-edited by Dr. Mary Farmer Kaiser, Dean of UL Lafayette's Graduate School.

The program includes sessions on the state of women's studies in Louisiana, health accessibility and disparity, intimate partner violence, campus culture and gender issues, and a discussion of defining women and inclusivity. A Brown Bag Lunch Talk with Dr. Janet Allured will focus on her forthcoming book, Re_mapping Second-Wave Feminism: The Long Women's Rights Movement in Louisiana, 1950-1997_.

The full day of panel discussions invites scholars, students and the community at large to come together for deep thinking and examination of Louisiana's treatment of women and women's issues.

The Center for Louisiana Studies presents Women's History Month with LA Femme / Women of Louisiana: A Symposium on Wednesday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Paul and LuLu Hilliard University Art Museum's A. Hays Town Building, located at 710 E. St. Mary Blvd., in Lafayette.
