Movies in the Parc guests enjoyed a surprise century birthday party recently at Parc International. Thanks to Home Bank, which was celebrating 100 years in business, guests in the park were treated to ice cream, cupcakes and balloons before the 7:30 p.m. showing of Bee Movie. Artist Adrian Fulton was on hand to capture the scene in an original portrait as a keepsake for the bank, and Mitchell Richard from MLR Magic created a 4-foot-tall balloon cake, balloon flowers and bumble bees for kids. Party Girl captured a quick photo of Helen Breaux, Claire Miciotto, Judy Briscoe, Georgette Miller, Nicole Theriot, Barbara Bordelon, Kathy Herter, Susan Allardyce and Sarah Oubre in front of the 4-foot balloon cake, which was surrounded by 500 cupcakes. (That’s the right place for Party Girl — next to the sweets!) And who says you can’t be a kid sometime, no matter what your age? I think Mike Breaux and Tré Leger had the best idea — flying their newly assembled Home Bank paper airplane. Home Bank paid for all the attendees’ admission that night with a donation to Downtown Lafayette Unlimited, which raises money for events like Downtown Alive and ArtWalk. “The party was a great way to celebrate our 100-year anniversary and include children in the fun,” said Assistant Vice President Judy Briscoe. “Movies in the Parc was the perfect place for our celebration.” Party Girl also had a blast at the Krewe of Bonaparte KreweFish Boil at Acadian Village. The krewe really needs to change the name from KreweFish to KreweFeast! The servings of crawfish (with corn and potatoes) were so large Party Girl almost needed a shopping cart to bring the tray to the table — luckily a couple of cute guys helped me. The buffet was almost a long as Piccadilly’s buffet. I’m always game for a feast and I had a hard time deciding what to try first: thick slices of roasted pork, chicken on a stick, dessert trays, fruit kabobs and much more. The beer boat in the middle of the pavilion was filled and re-filled with cold beer. The krewe was waiting for the boat to sink, but Party Girl noticed the beer never stayed long enough to fill the boat. Everything at this open-air event was perfect — the weather, music and dancing. Krewe of Bonaparte definitely likes to get down and party! Party On! — PG
