Top 50

Let’s be honest: Many companies in the Acadiana region have been hard hit by the decline in oil prices, a factor that has a ripple effect throughout much of the economy — regardless of whether a business is directly tied to the oil and gas industry.

But every one of these business men and women are working hard to emerge from the downturn, and it’s unquestionable that some of them will be even stronger and smarter for the experience.

As ABiz does each year, we will again celebrate these companies’ successes and struggles, their contributions to the community and the impact they have on the region in our Top 50 Private Companies issue July 15. We are collecting nominations, and companies have already begun returning their completed forms to us. Companies are ranked based on 2015 revenues.

This seventh annual Top 50 list of private companies will run as a cover story, along with profiles of several of these local companies. We will also include a list of the locally headquartered publicly traded companies, also ranked by annual revenues.

Last year, Schumacher Group ranked No. 1 with $675 million in 2014 revenues but no longer qualifies for the list, as more than 50 percent of the Lafayette-based provider of emergency room and hospital staffing is now owned by a Canadian private equity firm.

ABiz is requesting that privately owned companies headquartered in Lafayette, Acadia, Evangeline, St. Landry, Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary, Jeff Davis and Vermilion parishes submit the nomination form to Leslie Turk at [email protected] and Erin Z. Bass at [email protected] to qualify. (If you do not have the form, email Leslie or Erin for it.). For more information, call Leslie at (337) 769-8606.

Please return your forms by May 30. We respectfully request voluntary participation. However, in order to present as comprehensive a list as possible, we will utilize various research tools and resources to include companies that may be unwilling to disclose the requested information.

Additional information about the Top 50 luncheon will be announced soon.
