Evangeline Corridor kicks off Charrette Week Saturday

The week of events will culminate in a design presentation on Friday, May 27.

The Evangeline Corridor Initiative, AKA the planning process around the I-49 Connector, will host a week of events beginning Saturday with a kick-off at the Lafayette Public Library’s main branch Downtown. The dynamic, week-long process invites the entire Lafayette community to offer its input on the future of the plan — not just the route and design of the I-49 Connector from Interstate 10 to Lafayette Regional Airport, but the way the Connector interacts with the historic neighborhoods and Downtown to which it will inevitably be adjacent. This is our chance to get it right.

The kick-off will be held Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. For details, click here. https://goo.gl/VI3QG1

The locus of activity will be at the Rosa Parks Transportation Facility where a Charrette Studio will be set up and open all week. Residents can offer their ideas for the Connector that will be rendered in three dimensions by a high-tech production team; planners will be on hand to answer questions.

The Charrette Studio will be open Sunday, May 22 from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Wednesday, May 25, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Thursday, May 26 from 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
