Stephanie Grace: Nungesser needs a civics lesson

The Advocate columnist opines on the Louisiana lieutenant governor’s all-thumbs grasp of the workings of government.

Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser has had a rocky six-month start to his tenure as Louisiana’s top tourism official, as Advocate columnist Stephanie Grace notes today.

Nungesser infamously tried to broker a whackadoo economic development deal with the Iraqi government, claiming to represent Gov. John Bel Edwards when in fact Edwards had no clue about the deal. Turns out Nungesser was working the chairman of the state Republican Party.

Nungesser’s latest snafu involves some outrageous claims made to some Republican ladies in North Louisiana involving early voting that were so off-reality that Secretary of State Tom Schedler, a fellow Republican, angrily rebuked him.
