DTA! & AcA team up for ‘After the Flood: Artists Helping Artists’ benefit

Downtown Alive! has partnered with Acadiana Center for the Arts to present a special community event to raise funding for artists and arts organizations affected by the flooding in August 2016.

After the Flood: Artists Helping Artists is a free community fundraising event that will feature London, England’s The James Hunter Six and Lafayette’s own The Revelers and Terry & The Zydeco Bad Boys. The event will be held Friday, Sept. 30 from 5 - 11 p.m. at Parc International. AcA’s Moncus Theater will serve as a rain venue if necessary.

Attendants are encouraged to make a $10 entry donation to artistic relief as 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting individuals and organizations who have lost property, spaces to rehearse, work and perform, and have lost dance shoes, instruments, canvases, paint and many other supplies.

The Artists Helping Artists event is a product of Creative Relief Acadiana, Acadiana’s branch of Creative Relief Louisiana. Creative Relief Louisiana was coordinated to identify artists who have lost or incurred damage from the devastating flood. Acadiana Center for the Arts has been identifying artists in need and will address and evaluate each situation to determine the best ways to provide assistance. Financial contributions to Creative Relief Acadiana, like the donations made at the Artists Helping Artist concert, help with assistance in this time of need.
