There is now a “move tiger Tony to LSU” petition

We floated the idea Friday and, honestly, it was one of the most-clicked stories we’ve posted in a long time.

We floated the idea Friday and, honestly, it was one of the most-clicked stories we’ve posted in a long time: Convince Michael Sandlin, the owner of Tiger Truckstop in Gross Tete, to donate his 550-pound Bengal-Siberian tiger, Tony, to LSU.

There is now a petition up at Change.org calling on Gov. John Bel Edwards to talk to Sandlin about it, and with the news today that Mike VI has been euthanized after a brief battle — OK, big cats probably don’t“battle” cancer like us homo sapiens, but still — with a rare form of cancer, the petition is timely.

The petition was begun by Devin Guidry of Denham Springs, who says he's also contacted Baton Rouge news stations and LSU about the petition, which currently has about 1,200 "signatures."
