DTA! does Halloween

Downtown Alive! welcomes Cedryl Ballou & the Zydeco Trendsetters to the Parc Sans Souci stage on Friday, Oct. 28, with a special Halloween costume contest in coordination with the Children’s Museum of Acadiana’s Spooktacular event followed by Hocus Pocus at Movies in the Parc on top of the parking garage.

Cedryl Ballou, who comes from a long linage of professional musicians, fronts Cedryl Ballou & the Zydeco Trendsetters. Their traditional Creole style mixes with innovative Zydeco flare will sure to keep anyone dancing all night long. They will be performing at Parc Sans Souci from 6 - 8:30 p.m.

The Children’s Museum of Acadiana’s Spooktacular event will continue Oct. 28, 29 & 31t at the museum, which is located at 201 E. Congress St., nightly from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. The event features kid-friendly spooky exhibits and activities and a nightly costume contest with prizes. On Friday night, the contestants will take the DTA! stage at 7 p.m. where a winner will be announced. Other attendees are encouraged to come out in costume as well.

After DTA!, Movies in the Parc takes over the rooftop of the parking garage next to Parc Sans Souci featuring “Hocus Pocus.” Doors open at 8 p.m. and the movie starts at 9 p.m. No Halloween is complete without watching this cult classic. Come out in costume and bring your wagons, blankets and creature comforts for a night with the whole family. The only entrance will be by elevator to the top floor.

Admission is just $3 and free for children 5 and under. Food and beverages will be available on-site for purchase. Parking is available on the lower levels of Parc-Auto du Centreville at Polk and Vermilion Streets and metered spots.
