Celebrate the season with Christmas in the Park

The inaugural Christmas in the Park is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, from 6 ‐ 9 p.m. at Moncus Park at the Horse Farm. This free event will offer a wide variety of fun and activity for the whole family this holiday season.

There is truly something for everyone and it is poised to become a wonderful holiday tradition for the entire community. An exciting Christmas‐themed music line‐up includes great artists such as the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Julie Williams, and a special presentation by the Music Academy of Acadiana.

At this inaugural Christmas event, people can expect to enjoy great music, and a wide variety of good food and drinks for purchase, though organizers ask guests to leave their ice chests at home. They can also get their holiday shopping done with some great Christmas Market vendors, featuring more than 30 of Acadiana’s homegrown local businesses.

There will be fun play areas for children provided by Hero Jump along with Face Art by Jill Huber and Fun Jump USA.

Santa & Mrs. Claus will be making a very special landing directly from the North Pole, in the special Santa Photo Booth. A minimal donation of $5 is requested per picture and will be donated to Moncus Park at the Horse Farm.

Give back to the community by attending this event with a suggested new or gently-used toy donation that goes to local foster children in need through the organization, Love for People.

Enjoy both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages provided by The Jefferson Street Pub. Beverage tickets will be available at two different tickets booths and cash and credit cards will be accepted.

There will be 23 pop-up shops on site offering a mixture of specialty desserts, holiday gifts, artwork, jewelry, clothing, and much more.

Parking is free and will be located in the rear part of Moncus Park, which can be accessed by entering through the entrances on Johnston Street, crossing over the bridge and following the parking signs all the way to the back of the park.

Enjoy the holidays with your community in a beautiful setting, all while helping to raise funds to build Moncus Park at the Horse Farm with construction set to begin in 2017.
