Galerie Touchet hosts ‘panty painting’ for women’s equality

Local artists/activists Nicole Touchet of Galerie Touchet and Brittany Boudreaux of Gallery 333 are teaming up for Femme Puissance: Painting Panties for Protection this Saturday in Downtown Lafayette.

Femme Puissance will feature several Lafayette artists coming together to organize a satellite event held in solidarity with the Women’s March on D.C. this Saturday morning.

“We will be promoting women’s equality as well as addressing other vitally important issues facing women today,” the organizers state in a release announcing the event. “We invite the public to join us in this ‘artistic happening’ by painting on our larger-than-life pair of ladies undergarments. We also encourage women to showcase their undergarments in any (legal) way they like. Bring your voice, your instrument, and your creativity to stand with us for women everywhere.”

A sign and "panty prep" night is also scheduled at Gallery 333 at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20. Guests are encouraged to bring cardboard, poster board, and painting materials to create their activist signage.

Femme Puissance: Painting Panties for Protection will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Gallery 333, located at 333 Monroe St., in Downtown Lafayette. For more detail visit the event page on Facebook.
