The Current is now

The premier issue of The Current is hot off the press, destined for more than 200 distribution locations throughout the Lafayette metro. Look for it in a clear poly-bag that also has the official guide to Festival International inside. Distribution will be complete by tomorrow.

Branded as “Lafayette’s journal of culture, commentary and ideas,” The Current is the latest from IND Media and the company’s first foray into the local glossy magazine space.

“Although it will likely have broader appeal, The Current is written for Lafayette’s emerging cultural and community leaders,” says Co-Publisher Cherry Fisher May. “We describe our target readers as creative, worldly, open-minded, educated, upwardly mobile and locally invested, and we’re fortunate to have developed collaborations with some of the leading local artists and writers of this generation under the editorial direction of Christiaan Mader. It’s a unique offering and we think readers and advertisers will instantly see a distinct difference between The Current and anything else in the market.”

The editorial content includes a fresh take on arts and cultural coverage, and a smart, energetic exploration of current events through narrative storytelling, stunning photography, original art and the written word. The Current also covers the local food scene and fashion front in comprehensive and compelling new ways. With a double issue scheduled for the summer, The Current will publish eleven issues annually.
