Google, Sen. Cassidy aim to help Lafayette businesses expand online

Free June 1 workshop being held at LITE

U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy

On Thursday, June 1, Google and U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy will host a free small business workshop to help local companies reach more customers online. Held at LITE on Cajundome Boulevard, the event begins at 9 a.m. with morning training sessions and lasts until 11:30 a.m.

The program will teach business owners how to get on Google Search and Google Maps for free and how to promote their business with a free website and advertising.

According to a press release on the workshop, small businesses need a strong online strategy, because that’s where their customers are. While 78 percent of small businesses in the U.S. already have an online presence, only 53 percent have a company website, with 64 percent saying their website is optimized for mobile.

Cassidy will provide remarks to attendees about supporting the nation’s small business community.
