Blossman won't seek re-election

Public Service Commissioner Jay Blossman won't seek re-election. The Mandeville Republican has served for 12 years and qualified last week to run for a third term. According to The Times-Picayune, Blossman intends to spend more time with his family and help run his family's bank, Parish National Bank. The Mandeville Republican qualified last week to run for a third term in his district.

Last month, the State Inspector General said that Blossman may have violated state ethics codes when he wrote to approximately 230 motor carriers, who are regulated by the commission, on PSC letterhead, asking them to meet with an Acadiana Ambulance employee who was marketing a GPS product.
