Tuning the Music Commission

by Jeremy Alford

Gov. Bobby Jindal has added three new names to the 15-member Louisiana Music Commission. In short, the mission of the commission is to promote and develop commercial music in the Bayou State. More recently, though, the commission’s stature swelled when it was charged with helping administer new tax incentives for recording, production and infrastructure. The new members are:

Armand DeClouette of Lawtell, who has managed several zydeco groups including Grammy-nominated Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie. DeClouette also managed Terry and the Mallet Boys and is active with the Creole Zydeco Music Festival, Catfish Festival and Spice Festival.

Lee Gwinn of Alexandria, a promoter of local bands and musicians. Gwinn is also the owner of Spirits, Food and Friends, a restaurant and live music venue.

Reed Ingram of Slidell, who works with Rehage Entertainment, a company involved in the promotion and production of music festivals including the Voodoo Music Festival, Essence Festival and French Quarter Festival.
