State vital services Web site

by Mary Tutwiler

The Louisiana governor’s office has posted a Web site, www.Emergency.Louisiana.gov, that includes statewide updates on gas station openings, grocery store openings, application for federal aid, school and road closures, emergency phone numbers and other vital services, following Hurricane Gustav. The most updated power outage map on the site shows every parish in the state affected by the storm. Of the state’s 64 parishes, 19, including St. Landry parish in Acadiana, are shown having at least 75 percent of residents and businesses still without power.
