Gator seeks shelter in Sulphur home

by Mary Tutwiler

While most people open their homes to evacuees and their pets, sheltering a 10 foot alligator is pushing the envelope. At least that’s how Robert Saucier of Sulphur felt about the gator he found in his carport this morning. Lake Charles TV station KPLC 7 News reports that Saucier heard a noise round midnight and thought someone was trying to steal his generator, so he went outside to check it. What he found had him calling 911. The female alligator, evidently pushed inland by high water, was trapped by Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries and removed.
