LABI poll: economy and jobs No. 1 issue in state

by Leslie Turk

A recent poll commissioned by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry shows that 22 percent of Louisiana voters say the economy and jobs are the No. 1 issue facing Congress next year. Education, 13.9 percent, and the war in Iraq, 13.8 percent, were second and third among the 600 likely voters interviewed. Gasoline/energy prices was fourth at 12.7 percent.

The poll was conducted by Southern Media & Opinion Research. Though there are federal election campaigns going on in the state, LABI's focus for the poll was on issues, not candidates.
