The deadline to apply for the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Lafayette program for 2009 is Friday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. Twenty-five individuals will be selected for participation in the 10-month training initiative, which turns 22 next year.
Class XXI's graduation is Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Oakbourne Country Club. U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany will address the 2008 leadership group and present graduates with their certificates.
Leadership Lafayette is an award-winning program designed to encourage new, energetic and innovative leaders to use in-depth analysis when approaching complex community issues. Participants are selected each year from a cross-section of occupations and socio-economic sectors of the community. Utilizing topical sessions, lectures, field trips and readings, the curriculum covers local issues in the areas of education, health care, economic development, law enforcement and government.
