New Iberia native and the state’s Artist Laureate, George Rodrigue, will be signing Blue Dog Speaks in Lafayette tomorrow. Rodrigue says his latest book, which emphasizes the titles of his paintings, was written to explain some of the mystery about his iconic Blue Dog. “The title combines with the paint on the canvas to convey a deeper meaning: one that in the end rarely alludes to that animal we know as ‘dog,’ but instead provides insight - whether humorous or nostalgic or sad - into the human condition,” he writes in the introduction to Blue Dog Speaks.
Rodrigue will sign copies of Blue Dog Speaks at 6 p.m., Wednesday at Barnes and Noble, 5707 Johnston St. Call 989-4142 for more information.
