UL homecoming game one for the history books

by Leslie Turk

The get-out-the-vote effort may be in high gear across the state, but UL fans have had a more pressing agenda this week: to pack Cajun Field for tomorrow's homecomingĀ battle against Florida International -- the Ragin' Cajun program's 1,000th game. There have been "Top 10 reasons to be at The Swamp lists" floating around, and high-pressured e-mails hoping to persuade fans to fill every seat in the house. In addition to spectacular athleticism and what's expected to be a highly competitive matchup, you're likely to see 10,000 "Tyrell Towels" waving in the air as the star running back is only 30 yards shy of becoming the 7th college football player ever to rush for more than 1,000 yards in all four of his seasons (the towels go to the first 10,000 fans). That's only the beginning for Tyrell Fenroy; keep an eye on this guy.

Did I mention that the nation's leading rushing quarterback will be back in action?

You get the picture, but the best of the best in this appeal goes to Paul Angelle's post on Nola.com Wednesday. If thisĀ passionate fan's history lesson doesn't convince you to drop whatever you're doing and be in The Swamp by 4 p.m. kickoff, nothing will.
