Louisiana Technical College in Lafayette is offering an introductory course in solar power and renewable energy, starting on Nov. 4 and running to Dec. 11. Participants will be provided an introductory study of basic principals involved with solar electricity. This study will include the basic components included in a solar system; how to decide the best site for a solar system; how to maximize a solar system’s production with energy efficiency; the basic financials associated with a solar system including available tax credits; and how to choose a qualified contractor to install a solar system.
The classes will be held 6 – 9p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and the cost of the course is free to qualified applicants. Individuals interested in enrolling should call (337) 262-5962 or visit the Lafayette Campus located at 1101 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette to complete an application.
