Time to ante up for the arts

by Mary Tutwiler

Everybody's looking for a good deal these days, and there are two fine auctions coming up to benefit performing art and architecture in Acadiana. PASA’s Golden Gala wine auction takes place on Friday, Nov. 7 at Knight Aviation. There’s offerings like a 3 bottle vertical - 1998, 1999, 2000 Opus One Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend, a great pour to go with another auction item, the Bluesiana Burger Night at George and Roxanne Graham’s house. For more info, check out PASA’s website .

Once you’ve got your cellar stocked, it’s time to deck the walls. UL’s Beausoleil Solar House, one of 20 entries in the prestigious 2009 Solar Decathlon in D.C., is holding a silent auction of works by noted Acadiana artists such as Fred Daspit and John Geldersma. Paintings, prints, sculptures and ceramics are on view in Galerie Lafayette, inside Jefferson Street Market. The auction will close at the end of ArtWalk, Saturday, Nov. 8. Go to the Beausoleil Solar House website for more info.
