Cajuns snubbed, Tigers playing Chick-fil-A Bowl

by Leslie Turk

UL's season came to an abrupt end last night, as the Cajuns were one of four bowl-eligible teams not chosen for a post-season matchup. Two other Sun Belt teams, Troy and FAU, will represent the conference in the New Orleans and Motor City bowls, respectively. This year's post-season disappointment is the third time in four years the bowl-eligible Cajuns have not been selected. The 6-6 Cajuns have not played in a bowl game in 38 years.

The 7-5 LSU Tigers, on the other hand, have an opportunity to redeem themselves on New Year's Eve when they face Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl (formerly the Peach Bowl) in Atlanta. The 6:30 p.m. game will be televised on ESPN.

In other sports news over the weekend, the New Orleans Saints kept their playoff hopes alive with a 29-25 win over the Atlanta Falcons in the Superdome. The Saints play the Chicago Bears on the road Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
