The Monroe News-Star reports that Jena 6 defendant Mychal Bell shot himself in the chest with a .22, but that the injury wasn't life-threatening. Monroe Police Sgt. Cassandra Wooten told the paper, "[Bell] said he couldn't take it anymore; he was back in the media again."
The 18-year-old who had been living in Monroe was back in the news when he was arrested on Christmas Eve on charges of shoplifting, resisting arrest, and simple battery in an incident at the Pecanland Mall.
