Daily World building sold

More consolidation is taking place at Gannett Company's Acadiana operations as part of the Virginia-based media giant's ongoing downsizing. The Daily World reported yesterday that an agreement has been reached between its parent company and Hargroder Equity Partners to sell the building that now houses the newspaper staff on the I-49 S. Service Road in Opelousas.

Hargroder Equity Partners is purchasing the building as an investment property, according to the story. The sales price was not disclosed.

The INDsider has learned that all four members of the advertising staff from the Opelousas paper will eventually be relocated to the Lafayette Daily Advertiser's building on Bertrand Drive; the head of advertising in Opelousas has reportedly already made the move. That means the paper's lone reporter, William Johnson, and its lone photographer, Freddie Herpin, will likely be the only staff remaining at a yet-to-be-determined office location in Opelousas.
