Raising funds for culture and eco-tourism

by R. Reese Fuller

On Thursday night, it's an evening of food and music to benefit the Center for Cultural and Eco-Tourism. Por l’amour de la Louisiana kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at UL Lafayette's Alumni Center, with music from Chris Segura, Randy Vidrine and Peppy Camello. A live auction begins at 7:15 p.m., with Barry Jean Ancelet as the auctioneer and work by regional photographers and artists, and a silent auction runs throughout the evening. Contributions include photographs by Philip Gould and Kelly Briggs, one-of-a-kind prints from the Tabasco archives, a Don Montoucet triangle, and a traditional Mardi Gras costume by Robin Miller. Tickets are $25 and include admission, food, drink and entertainment. All proceeds will benefit the center and its Archives of Cajun and Creole Folklore. For more info, contact Jennifer Ritter at the Center for Cultural and Eco-Tourism at [email protected] or 482-1320.
