Saving seeds through waltzes, two-steps

by R. Reese Fuller

On Sunday at the Blue Moon Saloon, beginning at 1 p.m., catch the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Vin Bruce, Joe Hall and the Cane Cutters, Les Freres Michot, and the Vrai Boys, which includes Horace Trahan, Matthew Doucet and the Huval Family. The show runs until 8 p.m. and is a fundraiser for the Cultural Research Institute of Acadiana.

Between the bands' sets, there will lectures on local sustainable living, saving seeds, and farming in the wetlands. Your $10 admission also gets you a CRIA membership and helps raise funds for the Acadiana Seed Bank, which collects, treats, and preserves generations of obscure heirloom seeds in Acadiana that have been passed down through the generations.
