Brass Bed and The Howdies at Downtown Alive

by Dege Legg

Brass Bed (at left) began life as a simple bedroom recording project and now they’re all done grown up and grinding it out like the rest of the world’s valiant rockers, pimping CDs, traveling in a band van, eating truckstop corndogs, and doing dirty deeds done dirt cheap. To quote their Myspace page, “Let your ears feast upon the humble majesty…and dream of what may come next.” NICE! Sounds like a groovy romance novel. JOKING! Brass Bed and the hillbilly crank machine of The Howdies (below left) play Downtown Alive tonight in Parc San Souci. In addition to live music, there will be beer venders and a bunch of other stuff. Go check it out.

Downtown Alive! runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with food and beverage concessions. DTA! is a free event sponsored by Cox, Lafayette Coca-Cola, and  The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living. Produced by Downtown Lafayette Unlimited in cooperation with the Downtown Development Authority and Lafayette Consolidated Government. Concession sales help keep Downtown Alive! free, so please leave your ice chests at home with your pets.
