Orange brew preview at ArtWalk

by Mary Tutwiler

Abita orange. No, it’s not pop, it’s a grown-up summer cooler based on a home-grown Louisiana crop, our sumptuous satsumas. The little brewery in Abita Springs is launching a new flavored beer, Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit, and you can taste it here in Lafayette on Saturday night.

Abita describes the wheat beer as “pale and cloudy, like the haze on a hot summer day.” The brewery suggests pairing the brew with seafood and Thai dishes.

The Acadiana Center for the Arts is ramping up for their July 25 Gulf Brew extravaganza with a teaser, tastes of the new satsuma beer, during ArtWalk. There will also be snowballs from Old Tyme Grocery for the kiddies as well. So make free, and take a trip to ArtWalk, 6-9 p.m., downtown Lafayette, Saturday, June 12.
