Party Girl

Party Girl 06.24.09

Party Girl had to hurry and change out of her little black dress into her teeny bikini, because right after the Heart Ball there was a moonlit swimming party at City Club in River Ranch that I just had to attend. I love late night pool parties during our hot summers! “An Evening in Paradise” was the theme of this friendly gathering, hosted by Grace Leleux and Amber Shulaw. The pool and bar were transformed into a tropical vision; adding to the ambiance were lights in the palm trees, multi color leis and fruity cocktails complete with umbrellas. There was also some nice eye candy for Party Girl to look at, as shirtless guys dressed up as Chippendale dancers helped keep the party lively. There was lots of drinking, some dancing, and a little bit of swimming, but everyone had a ton of fun! Needless to say, after a couple of pina coladas (not to mention the wine from the Heart Ball) and such an eventful night, Party Girl was partied out for the evening and finally headed home. Until the next party that is!

On a sparkling Saturday night during the beginning of June, the American Heart Association hosted the 2009 Lafayette Heart Ball at the Crowne Plaza. This year’s festivities, named “Cuisine du Coeur,” hosted Chef John Folse as he provided the attendees with a cooking demonstration of yummy southern cuisine that is still good for your heart. Dr. Mitchell and Barbara Lirtzman were the chairs of the event, and it kicked off with a VIP cocktail party graciously sponsored by MidSouth Bank that included a cookbook signing by Chef Folse and wine tasting from Philippe’s Wine Cellar. Party Girl had to try some of the delicious wine, but only for the cardiovascular benefits, of course. There was also a live auction that included trips, jewelry and artwork. Al Lopez served as auctioneer, keeping the crowd entertained. The night was an extremely successful one, and all the monies raised will go to national and local funding efforts of the American Heart Association, helping to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
