A rising talent on the local legal scene, Blake David, a partner with the law firm of Broussard & David, has been honored with the “Outstanding Young Lawyer of Louisiana” award by the Louisiana State Bar Association Young Lawyers Section. The prestigious award was presented at the Louisiana State Bar Association’s annual meeting this summer in Sandestin, Fla. This honor is bestowed annually on one attorney under 40 years of age who has made outstanding contributions to the legal profession and his community.

The 33-year-old, who has contributed hundreds of pro bono hours through his law practice, focuses on personal injury and wrongful death litigation. In 2007 he was lead counsel in a successful wrongful death jury trial that was recognized as one of the Top 100 Verdicts that year by VerdictSearch.

David's professional associations include the Lafayette Bar Association, the American Inn of Court of Acadiana (president-elect, executive board member), American Association for Justice and Louisiana Association for Justice. He also is a founding board member of the Lafayette-Acadiana Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and served as chapter president in 2007.

David, who was raised in Lafayette, serves on several community organizations as well, including Downtown Development Authority and the Community Foundation of Acadiana. He also is a founding board member of “the705,” a young professionals organization focused on leadership and service in the community. David earned his law degree from LSU and previously worked as a registered lobbyist with Haynie & Associates in Baton Rouge.
