Prominent Lafayette banker's funeral Wednesday

Former Guaranty Bank President Arthur J. Broussard, 82, who died Sunday, will be laid to rest tomorrow. Broussard was employed by Guaranty Bank for 38 years, serving as president and chairman of the board for nearly two decades. He was married to Nancy Van Eaton Broussard, broker-owner of Van Eaton & Romero Real Estate.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Visitation is today from 4-8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation resumes Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Doucet Road.

The former Guaranty Bank was a $43 million entity when Broussard assumed the reins in 1967, and upon his retirement in the late 1980s, it had reached $830 million in assets. Broussard at one time served as president of the Louisiana Bankers Association, president of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and King of Townhouse. He was a veteran of World War II.
