Black-shirt affair at LITE

by Nathan Stubbs

Blackshirt Media, a budding, home-grown film production company, is hosting a coming out party of sorts tonight at Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise. Invitations read: “Forget Hollywood” and “come by to see how you can be a part of this film revolution in Acadiana.” Tonight’s event kicks off at 6:30 with a screening of On My Mind, Blackshirt Media’s first movie project. The short film features an entirely local cast including KATC’s Tom Voinche, as well as original music by local artists Reid Willis, Nick Lavin and Brass Bed. The screening will be followed by a reception with food and cocktails. Guests are also encouraged to come early, at 5:30, for a tour of LITE. Seating is limited and anyone interested in attending should RSVP at Blackshirt Media’s Web site.

Blackshirt Media CEO John Gerdsen says he wants to help grow Lafayette's film community by fostering local talent. He is hosting the event as a means of both promoting Blackshirt Media (the company is now in preproduction on its first full-length film) and networking with others interested in seeing the local film industry take off. Viva la revolution!
