The body of an unidentified woman was found Wednesday along Interstate 10 in Acadia Parish. The Advertiser reports work crews out cutting grass made the discovery between mileposts 72 and 73, which appears to be between Crowley and Jennings. No missing persons have been reported in Acadia Parish, but 27 year-old Necole Guillory was reported missing to the Jennings Police Department in neighboring Jefferson Davis Parish an hour before the body was found.
Jennings has been at the center of an ongoing investigation into a string of seven unsolved murders from 2005 to 2008. All of the victims were women from the area whose bodies were found in nearby rural areas. The investigation has led to the formation of a state task force led by Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff Ricky Edwards. The FBI also is involved. Edwards says while the task force is investigating the possibility of a serial killer, it has not found a definitive link between all the killings.
