A task force investigating a string of unsolved murders in Jeff Davis Parish now has one more case on its hands. Both The Advocate and The Advertiser report today that a woman's body found yesterday along I-10 near Egan has been identified as Necole Guillory of Jennings. Guillory fits the profile of the other seven Jeff Davis victims: All were young women from the Jennings area who had experienced drug problems or led what police call "high risk lifestyles." However, Guilory's body is the first to be found outside of Jeff Davis Parish and the first to be found along an Interstate. Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff Ricky Edwards attributes this to the killer's “reaction to heightened public awareness and intensive law enforcement investigation.”
Edwards, who is leading the task force charged with investigating what is widely to be believed to be the work of a serial killer, is again making a public appeal for leads. His release repeats that “the Task Force has reason to believe that there may be individuals who have information pertinent to this investigation, who have yet to come forward.” Anyone with information about the murders can contact the task force at (337) 824-6662.
